The Goal Ring^[1][2], also called the goal roulette^[3][4] or GOAL! Ring^[5], is a ring found in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Yoshi's Island DS, Yoshi's New Island, Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. It is found at the end of every level (except for Castles and Fortresses), acting as the goal point. The Goal Ring is a circle consisting of all the flowers the player collected in that level and blue dots. When entered, the word 'GOAL!' appears in the top-right corner of the screen.

When a Yoshi jumps through the Goal Ring and passes one of the babies to the next Yoshi, it will start spinning slower and slower. After a few seconds, the Goal Ring will stop spinning and land on either a blue dot or on a flower. If it lands on a blue dot, nothing happens and the player continues to the scoreboard and then the next level. However, if the roulette stops on a flower, the player instead goes to a Bonus Challenge (or gets five Egg Medals, as in Yoshi's New Island, or goes to a bonus game in Yoshi's Woolly World) after they leave the scoreboard. In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 and Yoshi's Island DS, after the instant Bonus Challenge, the player will go to the next level. The spots on the goal ring always 'bloom' in the same order when flowers are collected. The spot on the top of the goal ring will bloom for the first flower collected, and additional flowers will result in the addition of flower(s) every two spots away from the previous one in a counter-clockwise direction. If the player missed a flower in the stage, the matching spot in the Goal Ring will not bloom. Landing on one of these flower buds will have the same result as landing on a blue dot; thus decreasing the chances of them being able to play a Bonus Challenge.

In Yoshi's Woolly World, when Yoshi jumps through the Goal Ring, it instantly stops instead of spinning slower and slower. Also, blue dots and flower buds are replaced by beads. When Yoshi lands on a bead, the player earns extra beads.

• The Goal Ring also appears in the Yoshi's Island Zone in Sonic Lost World, where it acts the same way it did in the main Yoshi series, minus the Bonus Challenges.
• Hacking the game reveals that the Yoshi that picks up Baby Mario out of the air still can have status effects (such as the Fuzzy effect). However, this doesn't change graphics or gameplay.
• If the player loads in an enemy right at the other Yoshi's entrance after entering, the game will soft freeze.^{[citation needed]}
• Since the Goal Ring always loads when the player is the same distance away from it and always starts spinning from the same spot upon being loaded, a player can sometimes manipulate whether they get a Bonus Challenge or not by touching the Goal Ring a certain amount of time after loading it. Running into the Goal Ring at full speed will result in getting a Bonus Challenge.

Roulette is a Bonus Challenge that involves luck in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, its remake for the Game Boy Advance, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, and its sequel, Yoshi's Island DS. Players place a bet on how many lives they wager on the middle of the first circle up to a maximum of ninety-nine, and then the two circles have a light that will rotate. One of the circles counts as the equation, which will either be addition or multiplication, while the other one contains numbers ranging from 0-3. In multiplication, if it is a 'x2' or a 'x3', then players can double or triple the number of lives. The player cannot bet with their last life.

Players get the set number of lives depending on the equation. For example, the player may bet fifteen lives, and the two circles land on X and the '3', they get 45 extra lives (15 x 3 = 45), which are displayed on the middle of the second circle. This gives the player 30 extra lives when the 15 lives entered is taken into consideration. Or the player bets the maximum of ninety nine lives, and the circles land on 'X' and the '3', the player gets 297 extra lives (99 x 3 = 297). The Bonus Challenge will immediately end if the second circle ends with zero and the multiplication sign is in the first one.
